Ghorepani Ghandruk trek is a short and easy trek. This trek is suitable for anyone with normal fitness and limited time. It offers impressive scenery of the Annapurna region and Dhaulagiri region in Western Nepal. Ghorepani-Poon Hill trek is “Trekking for all for all season”, as it reaches an altitude of just 3210m. Poon hill, In this trek there is no chance of altitude-related problems. 

This Ghorepani Ghandruk circuit trek begins and ends in the central city of Pokhara which is a 25m flight or 6 hours bus ride from Kathmandu. A spectacular 1½h journey over the middle hills takes you to Nayapul to start the trek. The first day is fairly easy, taking you through  river and waterfalls and terraced farmland. The second day is longer and a bit more strenuous as you climb through steps and dense forests of rhododendron, oak and maple to the prosperous village of Ghorepani. 

Ghorepani Ghandruk trekking day three walk begins with a short stiff climb up Poon Hill for 360o panoramic view of the Annapurna Range and the southern plains towards India and incredible sunrise from the top of Poon Hill. The trek offers views of the high peaks, villages and particularly good views of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, sacred Machhapuchhare and wonderful Ghandruk village. 

This region is inhabited mainly by Gurungs and Magars; people of Mongolian faces. They are a friendly people who will welcome you warmly into their tea houses and shops.

Be warned: this short trek is unlikely to satisfy your enjoyment of this magnificent corner of the world – you are bound to return for longer treks in the future!

Spring (March - May) and autumn (September- November) are the most popular seasons, but we offer this trek throughout the year. All you need is a good pair of walking sport shoes, a day pack, warm clothing, sleeping bag and camera.

Detail Itinerary

Day 01Arrive Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264ft)Our Airport Representative will meet you just outside of exit gate of the Terminal. Please, look for Walkers Expeditions play card with your Name! Transfer to hotel, introduce your trekking guide and check the necessities. Afternoon visit Thamel.

Day 02Full day Kathmandu City excursionAfter breakfast, proceed for sightseeing tours to world heritage sites of Pashupatinath Temple-the holiest Hindu Temple on the bank of sacred Bagmati River, Bodhanath Stupa Buddhist Stupa. Swayambhunath Stupa-the 2500 years old legendary stupa on the hillock also famous to tourist as a monkey temple. Your day tour ends Kathmandu Durbar Square Showcasing living goddess Kumari Temple, the Kaal Bhairav, the Swet Bhairav, Indra chowk and Local market Ason and preparation for trekking.

Day 03Kathmandu – Pokhara (910m/2,986ft), Drive 6 hours / 25 min flightAbout 6 hours 200 KM drive through the scenic view of trisuli river, farmlands and local villages you will arrive to this touristic city Pokhara. After refreshment you may visit to Lake side and possibly boating.

Day 04Pokhara – Nayapul – Tikhedhunga (1,950m/6,398ft), drive, ~42km, 3-4 hrsAfter breakfast, drive to Nayapul and begin the trek. Walk upstream through terraced paddy fields and suspension bridges arrives to Hille, then in few ascend will reach to Tikhedhunga.

Day 05Tikhedhunga – Ghorepani (2850m/6783ft), ~5-6 hrsCrossing the suspension bridge the path heads staircase to Ulleri Magar Village. The trail passed the thick rhododendron and oak forest to Ghorapni Deurali.

Day 06Ghorepani – Poon Hill 3210m /10528ft - Tadapani , 2400m. ~7-8 hrsAn Early morning wake up and climb to Poon Hill for awesome panoramic mountain view and the best sunrise view from the top. Which may take an hour to climb to 3210 m. in short we will descend down to lodge take breakfast. Start another short climb to Deurali and again descend to Banthanti and finally reach to Tadapani.

Day 07Tadapani – Ghaandruk (2000m/6560ft), ~ 6-7 hrsThrough the Rhododendron and oak forest the way descends to Ghandurk a famous big Gurung inhabitant. A half day excursion to this ethnic Gurung village will introduces with their custom and culture.

Day 08Ghandurk – Nayapul – Pokhara ~4-5 hrsThis last day of trek will descend down to Syauli and finally arrives to Birethanthi and Nayapul. In one and half hour drive you will be back to Pokhara and end the trek.
